Greeted by the BHS Marching Band, District 191 staff and community partners filed into the
Burnsville High School gym Tuesday morning to participate in the All-District Welcome Back event!
Because this year’s theme is A Celebration of our Collective Commitment to Being Community Strong, community partners were also invited to attend the kickoff celebration. Some who were in attendance include City of Burnsville Mayor Elizabeth Kautz; City of Savage Mayor Janet Williams; Melanie Mesko Lee, City Manager of Burnsville; Police Chief Tanya Schwartz, BJ Jungmann, Burnsville Fire Chief; Jennifer Harmening, Burnsville Chamber of Commerce, Nichol Higon, Southwest YMCA; ISD 191 Board of Education Chair, Abigail Alt; Robbie Bunnell, Foundation 191 President; and many more.
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Commissioner Mary Cathryn Ricker, as well as keynote speaker Marcus Thomas of Bolton & Menk, also joined in the morning’s celebration; each offering an uplifting message. In her first All-District Welcome Back message, Superintendent Dr. Theresa Battle charged One91 staff with recognizing the uniqueness of every student. “Remember that everyone is somebody’s someone.” And finally, she encouraged everyone in the room to bring the Heat – the Hope – and the Help.
Welcome back One91 students and staff! Foundation 191 is excited for the opportunity to continue partnering with you during the 2019-2020 school year!
Foundation 191 will offer grant funds to selected projects for the 2022-2023
